My guess for the equipment was close, however the other Ghostbusters were not involved and did not help develop the new gear at all. I think this pretty much confirms that the 1 and the 1A are separate vehicles, and we'll have to wait and see if the 1B makes an appearance at all (if it doesn't, we can safely say that the game is no longer canon sadly). The Ecto-1A/1B was not mentioned in the film at all, in fact Jason said that the Ecto-1A might still be around in canon but he can't comment on it. So here we are, after Afterlife drops, and he's how this thing's aged (SPOILERS): Maybe they went back to the og Ecto-1 for that reason? It's very strange for them to go back to an older license plate, since the old plate would probably not be street-legal.Įdit: Just remembered that the 1B's engine got totaled at the end of the game. I'm shocked that a lot of people haven't picked up on the fact that the license plate in Afterlife is the same as in the first movie, not as it appears in the start of Ghostbusters 2. Upgrades were made to her and became the Ecto-1 we see in Afterlife.īiggest hole in my head cannon: the licence plate. The same thing happened to the Ecto they may have had to sell the 1B for some reason, leaving them with the old Ecto-1. There's also a good chance that the upgrades in the video game were deemed too dangerous and unnecessary (including the need to vent the proton packs), thus why the packs don't have the video game upgrades. Over the years, he (and probably the others) tinkered with their equipment in case of a massive surge of ghosts (which would explain all of the upgrades to their gear since the second movie). Prob the reason that Egon decided to put a base of operations in Rust City if there was ever another ghost outbreak it would be there first. The 1A eventually became the 1B, but sometime in the mid 90s, Ghostbusters went out of business again, or was scaled down heavily. Many people believe that the 1 and the 1A are separate cars, so there's a good chance that the old ecto-1 was put in storage when they bought the 1A. There were two Ecto mobiles the og Ecto-1 and the 1A/1B.
